Bio:
Dr. Brian Shelmadine is the Interim CEO and CMO of Box Butte General Hospital.
Dr. Shelmadine has been a primary care sports and lifestyle medicine provider since 2015 and has worked for BBGH since 2020. However, he has been working in adjacent fields of exercise, nutrition, teaching, coaching, and strength and conditioning since 2003. He’s received a bachelor’s degree in mass communication; a master’s in exercise science; a doctorate in exercise, nutrition and preventive health and another in osteopathic medicine; and two post-doctorates from a variety of institutions.
As the CMO, he will have more administration duties moving forward, which will affect his clinic practice. He will continue to practice lifestyle and sports medicine out of GNMSS. Starting the first week in December, he will have clinic hours Monday and Thursday mornings as well as Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons.
CMO duties: Dr. Shelmadine provides oversight to the delivery of medical care by clinical staff; serves as a mentor and assists the CEO with the management and resolution of medical staff concerns; performs provider recruitment; enhances and improves program offerings for the well-being program; develops and updates medical care protocols and procedures; and collaborates and develops continuing medical education, in addition to his medical practice.
